Ok so it doesn't rhyme, but it does rain in winter here. Every winter. Every year. No it's NOT wierd. Why on earth are joburg people so thick headed that every year when it rains in winter, they consider it strange that it's raining, in winter?
This is the thing, The Transvaal Highveld is known for it's hot wet summers and cold dry winters. Fine, but it's certainly not as exclusive as they think.
But then these blasted vaalies HATE rain, or weather i should say. Anything other than hot and sunny has them bitching. In fact, even then they bitch because it's hot.
http://www.weathersa.co.za/Climat/Climstats/JohannesburgStats.jsp (I can't embed, wtf? just go see :D)
For those who cannot read it's simple.
IN JOHANNESBURG, IT RAINS EVERY MONTH OF THE YEAR!
Simple enough?
The average for April is 54mm.
The average for May is 13mm.
The average for June is 9mm.
The average for July is 4mm.
The average for August is 6mm.
The average for September is 27mm.
These are averages taken from 1961 to 1990. While the general trend is dry, this is PRECIPITATION. Fucking rain. You know, the stuff that keeps us alive, and clean, and healthy, and happy.
Now i ask my fellow joburgers nicely ... stop bitching about the rain!!!!!

BTW ... orgone?
;-)
I agree with you on that score. It is like people have become even more stupid that they ever were.
If that is possible...
Yes.But.
June 10th saw over 10mm in Joburg- more than the monthly av.total in one day.
This wouldn't have anything to do with the scientists predicting increasingly rainy weather in the NE of South Africa as a result of climate change, would it?
Love,
Terri in Joburg
Nope i don't think so Terri.
This isnt about climate change so much as CLIMATE. The climate gives us, call it 10mm average in June.
That's every June, mostly. If it doesn't rain 1 year, that's fine too. Next year there'll be more.
I get annoyed and the smallminded: "this is how it should be" that is espoused.
They face the universe, and IT must bend to suit their mindsets.
*sigh*
peace and love
Oh, I see.
But most of them don't face the Universe. Neither do they know they are God.
Love,
Terri in Joburg

Agreed absolutely Terri.
I reckon God likes thunderstorms too :D
