Muslim punks ... no, doesn't work for me.
Islam is about rules ... punk is about anarchy. Somehow the book "The Taqwacores" has provided a fictional story that has struck a chord in american muslim kids.

It's not surprising that those kids are confused, muslims in amrica must have a really hard time, externally AND internally. I'd like to read the book, i had a few few "cut classics" as a kid, and know the power these books have in establishing adult identities.
Just odd, that's why i posted .... punk muslims ... i have now heard it all.

They gotta go somewhere. The tenets of religion are crumbling all over and now people are going to have to start building their own lives instead of looking to a book to tell them "dress up like a beekeeper and kill everyone who doesn't".
The punk scene is also kinda funny. It's supposedly built on anarchy, and they demonstrate this by all dressing up in the same style and listening to the same kind of music.
