South African farmers have set a new Guinness World Record for the biggest pumpkin pie ever made, SABC reported on Sunday.
The previous record was held by Americans with a pie of 920kg.
Farmers belonging to the Transvaal Agricultural Union weighed in with their attempt at 1 150kg.
The record bid took place at Rayton, east of Pretoria.
More than a ton of pumpkin had to be peeled, cooked and mixed with other ingredients. Four hundred litres of milk, 240 dozen eggs, five kilograms seasoning and 124kg of custard powder were used for the pie.
The pumpkin pie would be distributed among the poor, SABC reported. - Sapa
