666

Perhaps an apt time to remember this old "legend" .... ?

Woe to You Oh Earth and Sea
for the Devil sends the beast with wrath
because he knows the time is short
Let him who hath understanding
reckon the number of the beast
for it is a human number
its number is six hundred and sixty six.

I lived alone my mind was blank
I needed time to think to get the memories from my mind

What did I see? Could I believe? That what I saw
that night was real and not just fantasy

Just what I saw in my old dreams were they
reflections of my warped mind staring back at me?

'Cause in my dreams it's always there the evil face that twists my mind
and brings me to despair

Night was black was no use holding back
'Cause I just had to see was someone watching me
In the mist dark figures move and twist
was all this for real or just some kind of hell
666 the Number of the Beast
Hell and fire was spawned to be released

Torches blazed and sacred chants were phrased
as they start to cry hands held to the sky
In the night the fires are burning bright
the ritual has begun Satan's work is done
666 the Number of the Beast
Sacrifice is going on tonight

This can't go on I must inform the law
Can this still be real or just some crazy dream?
but I feel drawn towards the chanting hordes
seem to mesmerise...can't avoid their eyes
666 the Number of the Beast
666 the one for you and me

I'm coming back I will return
And I'll possess your body and I'll make you burn
I'll have the fire I'll have the force
I'll have the power to make my evil take its course

The shit is upon us

Here is a summary of a recorded interview July 16, 2008 with George Green, a former investment banker (Registered Financial Principal with the N.A.S.D.) and a Broker/Dealer, Securities Underwriter, Real Estate Developer, Insurance Broker and Publisher, who was invited to become a member of the 'Power Elite'. However, faced with a moral and ethical dilemma, he turned his back on his former associates and chose to walk an entirely different path in which he has tried to warn the world of the Power Elite's plans for the future.

The entire interview may be found at:

or

1. At the beginning of July, the Bank of International Settlements in Switzerland, which is owned by the thirteen [Illuminati] Banking Families under Rothschild, stated that it wanted to audit the US Federal Reserve. Bush reluctantly had to agree to this, but with the proviso that the audit would not be conducted until he has left office. However, when the truth inevitably leaks out on 30th20September 2008, clearly the Bank of International Settlements will no longer be prepared to accept the US Dollar.

2. With the realization that the Federal Reserve has been pumping two billion US Dollars a day into the economy in a forlorn effort to try to keep the US afloat, the US is now construed as 'the poor kid on the block', the 'bankrupt of the world' and nobody is prepared to lend them anything. Foreign governments have said 'We will no longer take your bonds'.

3. This situation has resulted in worldwide repercussions: for example China, which is the biggest US creditor, has told US importers that they may not pay more then 20% of the total cost of their goods in US Dollars.

4. Also since the beginning of July, Germany has announced that it will no longer accept Euros from eight of their fellow EU members, the two countries with which they are most concerned being Italy and Spain.

5. The Real Estate market is expected to go down by an additional 50% from its value on 16th August. Because of the collapse of the Real Estate market, which is expected to lead to at least a further two million foreclosures within the next 12 months, US Banks are no longer prepared to trust each other, so inter-bank lending has virtually ceased.

6. This has had a knock-on effect on would-be house purchasers. Like the old days, anyone who now wants to get a mortgage has to put 20% down and to satisfy the lender that their job is secure.

7. You may have seen Bush go on television to tell everyone not to worry as the US Government-sponsored Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will guarantee the safety of their bank deposits. However, the truth is that the FDIC can barely raise 30 cents on the dollar to cover its potential liabilities; and Bank of America and Wells Fargo are in a similar situation.

8. Banks have already started telling their depositors that they cannot withdraw their own cash.

9. It is universally accepted internationally that the US Dollar is going to collapse by the end of September 2008. some foreign banks have already started to refuse to take U.S. deposits and, since the Patriot Act, if you do manage to send money to a foreign bank, they are required to report the fact to the USG, who will make you prove how you obtained it and if you cannot do so, they will automatically label you a 'terrorist' or a 'drug dealer' and confiscate it.

10. The Bank of South America is trying to organize its own currency for use within the South&n bsp; American continent when the US Dollar finally crashes, _base_d on an initial provision of eight billion dollars.

11. As at July 1st, the Japanese stock market was down 12%, the Australian stock market was down 18%, the German stock market was down 22%, the Indian stock market was down 36%; and China's Shanghai Exchange was down 50%.

12. Within the next year, the DOW is expected to fall to between 7500 and 8000.

13. Everyone is now desperately trying to get liquid; and Oil, Gold and Drugs have become the only universally accepted world currencies.

14. The only sensible advice is either to change dollars into other currencies, or buy gold and silver (while you still can, because the US is likely to make it illegal to own gold); and stock up on canned food and ammunition, the price of which is going to go through the roof. Already the major canners have reduced the size of cans by 20% to preserve stock whilst also maximizing their profits.

15. Already 80% of the cost of an apple in a supermarket is due to energy costs; and this proportion is likely to rise. We have already started to see the situation where growers, producers and importers have stopped supplying many basic foodstuffs because the price of oil has meant that the cost of getting it to market is more than they can hope to sell it for. The food shortages that have resulted are likely to become even more acute because the USG is talking of introducing price controls. Who will be prepared to continue to supply the market when they are sustaining increasing losses?

16. The falling value of the dollar has created artificial shortages because other countries can now buy US goods cheaper than they can produce them themselves.

17. Inflation is expected to rise by 35 - 40% by the end of this year in real terms. Gasoline 5 Dollars a Gallon everywhere.

18. Following the collapse of the US Dollar, the Euro is also expected to collapse. In fact, Russia is already negotiating with Germany about a new currency.

19. The Iranian Oil Bourse was set up to trade oil internationally in Euros (see: http://www...ybulletin.net/node/12125 ) but, just when the bourse was ready to go live, the submarine cables were conveniently cut.&n bsp;

20. You can forget about the NAU's Amero. The Amero is off the table - the Canadian Prime Minister said 'We're not going to support a bankrupt country'; and Mexico is so corrupt that nobody knows where they're coming from.

21. In the future, South America will be one of the safest areas on the planet. They have ample commodities and very little debt. Not everywhere is ideal (in some countries you would need to live in a defended compound). Ecuador is close to becoming self sufficient in food terms.

22. Kissinger and the population reduction crew are trying to get WW3 started before September 30th (end of the US Fiscal Year), then Bush can suspend everything. Israel and the US are working out the details to attack Iran to start WW3. The main reason for the use of Depleted Uranium munitions in Iraq is 'to cull the herd'.

23. Of the US population of 300 million, half are over 50 and most of the kids can't read or write. Sport and entertainment are what has been used to keep everyone going. When (rather than if) Bush calls a National Emergency, if you are over the age of 44 only if you have a use which 'they' want will 'they' be prepared to keep you alive. Moreover, what law will we have which says that we even own our own homes?

24. Everybody must downsize into small self-contained and (as far as possible) self-sufficient communities, People will have to forget their 'wants' and to concentrate solely on what they actually need to survive.

R.I.P. Richard Wright

Pink Floyd founder Richard Wright died today at his home in England. He was 65.

A spokesman for the band confirmed that Wright had been battling cancer, the AP reports.

Wright met Pink Floyd members Roger Waters and Nick Mason at school and joined his friends' early band Sigma 6, which was to be the precursor to Pink Floyd.

Wright wrote and sang some of the band's most memorable songs, such as "The Great Gig in the Sky," and "Us and Them" on the 1973 album "The Dark Side of the Moon."

Wright left Pink Floyd in the early 1980s to form his own band. But he rejoined the band for its 1987 album "A Momentary Lapse of Reason."

The root of all evil

1) More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !

2) Exactly half of all children who grow up in bread - eating households score in the bottom 50% on standardized IQ tests !

3) In the 19th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home, the average life expectancy was less than 55 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, scarlet fever, smallpox and influenza ravaged entire nations !

4) Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !

5) Bread is made from a substance called "dough." Researchers have proven that as little as one pound of dough can choke a large animal like a horse. The average person eats more bread than that in one month !

6) Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !

7) Bread is a "gateway" food item, which usually leads to such items as butter, jam, peanut butter and even ... bacon !

Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

9) Unattended newborn babies can choke on bread !

10) Bread is baked at temperatures as high as 425 degrees Fahrenheit ! Don't laugh...that kind of heat can kill a full grown adult in less than five minutes.

11) 96 % of cancer victims eventually admit that they've eaten bread !

12) Sadly, 9 out of 10 bread eaters are unable to distinguish between significant scientific fact and meaningless statistical babbling.

King Contrary Man

The Cult King Contrary Man lyrics

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I saw the devil
The contrary man
I saw the devil down the long, long road
He said to me, boy
He said to me, boy
He said to me, boy
I want your soul
I said no
I said no
I said no
You can't take my soul
No
I said no
I said no, no
You can't take my soul
I took a while and thought about it
Down at the crossroads temptin' fate
I took a while and thought about it
Down at the crossroads temptin' fate
Yeah, yeah, yeah
You can take my soul
Yeah, yeah, yeah
You can take my soul
Take my soul
I want it all, yeah
Play it, baby
Ow, yeah, ow
Zany antics of a beat generation
In their wild search for kicks
Fighting, drinking, scorning convention
Making wild love, making wild love
I saw the devil
The contrary man
I saw the devil down the long, long road
He said to me, boy
He said to me, boy
He said to me, boy
I want your soul
I said yeah
I said yeah
I said yeah
Yeah...
I want it all
I want it all
Yeah

Be VERY afraid

Malema promises Zuma a clear path to the top
September 10 2008 at 01:54PM

African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) leader Julius Malema on Wednesday vowed to "eliminate any force" blocking ANC president Jacob Zuma's path to the presidency.

Speaking at a celebration of the ANCYL's 64th birthday, he told media that the "Malema generation" would be responsible for making Zuma president of the country.

"Whatever the judgement... Come 2009, Zuma will be president," said Malema, referring to the Pietermaritzburg High Court ruling expected on Friday on whether Zuma's corruption charges should be scrapped.

"Any force on our way we will eliminate. We are on a mission here. We will crush you. It doesn't matter who you are, even if you are in the ANC," Malema said to loud applause.

He expressed optimism that the court application to have the case against Zuma dropped would go in his favour.

"We believe in that judge... He looked very sober to us... That's why we are so convinced that we are going to get a positive judgment." - Sapa
___________________________________________________________________

This impertinent little monkey is not going away. In fact, it would appear that he is very specifically pushing certain buttons.

This is so bad on so many levels. And after reading zuma's speech of the other day, where he states that the Judiciary should be transformed ... i'd love to know who wrote that little speech. I am 100% zuma neither wrote it, nor believed what it said. He is still a puppet, like all "popular" leaders.

Again, calling for any country needing a strong young family?

hehehehehehe

Atom-smasher set to fire up

10/09/2008 08:19 - (SA)

Geneva - Particle physicists were to fire up the world's biggest atom-smasher on Wednesday, in a mission to answer some of the most perplexing questions in the cosmos.

Built in a tunnel 100 metres below ground in a complex straddling the French-Swiss border, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is designed to accelerate sub-atomic particles to nearly the speed of light and then smash them together.

The collision will briefly stoke temperatures 100 000 times hotter than the Sun, fleetingly replicating conditions which prevailed in split-seconds after the "Big Bang" that created the Universe 13.7 billion years ago.

In this primordial soup, novel particles may lurk that will resolve mysteries clouding our understanding of fundamental matter, scientists say.

"This machine will probably bring unexpected results that could turn particle physics on its head," French astrophysicist Hubert Reeves said on Tuesday.

Two decades, 5 000 scientists

It has required nearly two decades, six billion Swiss francs (€3.76bn, R42.5bn) and 5 000 scientists, engineers and technicians from nearly three dozen countries to bring the LHC to fruition.

At 09:30 on Wednesday, the first protons will be injected into the 27-kilometre ring-shaped tunnel at the headquarters of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN).

The operation will kick off a long and cautious commissioning process, testing equipment and procedures, before starting experiments a matter of weeks from now.

When all is ready, the LHC will whizz two parallel beams of protons, one clockwise and the other anticlockwise, around the tunnel.

Superconducting magnets cooled close to absolute zero - the chill of deep space - will then steer the beams so that they converge inside four chambers, like racing cars in a chicane.

Some protons are bound to collide, and subatomic wreckage from the smash-up will fly into the detectors, leaving a calling-card trace of their identity.

Over the years in which will the LHC will operate, masses of data will spew from these collisions and will be closely scrutinised by universities and laboratories around the world.

Higgs Boson

The Holy Grail will be finding a particle, called the Higgs Boson after British physicist Peter Higgs, who devised the theory of its existence in 1964.

The "Higgs" would explain how particles acquire mass, and some particles are more massive than others.

The idea is that these particles exist in a sort of invisible background field. Other particles passing through the Higgs field would acquire mass, like feathers passing through treacle.

Another big challenge will be testing the theory of supersymmetry, which postulates that the members of the known bestiary of sub-atomic particles have related, but more massive, counterparts.

Such particles could explain the unsettling discovery of recent years that visible matter only accounts for some four percent of the Universe. Enigmatic phenomena called dark matter and dark energy account for the rest.

Before the start-up, internet-driven rumours said the LHC would create black holes or a nasty hypothetical particle called a strangelet that would gobble up the planet.

CERN has commissioned a panel to verify its calculations that such risks are, by any reasonable thinking, impossible. France too has carried out its own safety probe.

Natalie du Toit AKA The Flying Fish

'Flying Fish' wins 2nd gold

08/09/2008 22:36

Wilhelm de Swardt

Beijing - The "Flying Fish" did it again on Monday.

Natalie du Toit, who was given this nickname by her Chinese supporters, has won her second gold medal at the Paralympic Games. This means that South Africa's golden harvest now stands at four medals with the team fifth on the medals table.

Du Toit won the 100m freestyle in a Paralympics record time of 1:01.44.

Eighteen-year-old Charl Bouwer also triumphed in the swimming pool when he grabbed gold in the 400m freestyle - also in a world record time (4:14.02).

And in the equestrian competition Philippa Johnson and her horse Benedict took gold in the dressage held in Hong Kong. In a near faultless performance they scored 69.290 points.

Nicholas Newman won bronze in the javelin event in the F35 class for cerebral handicapped athletes.

After the 100m freestyle finals, Du Toit was somewhat disappointed not to have swum it in 1:01.00.

"But I'm not going to punish myself by thinking about what could have been. I won the gold medal and the moment will always remain special to me."

"Du Twa", as her surname is pronounced in Beijing, says it's a huge honour for her to have a Chinese nickname.

"I cannot actually believe how enthusiastic the Chinese become when I'm swimming."

The sight-handicapped Bouwer's winning time was ten seconds faster than his previous best in this event.

He described his golden moment as unbelievable.

"To represent your country at the Games and win a gold medal in a record time is a dream come true."

Over the last 50m he was involved in a desperate duel with the Ukraine's Danylo Chufarov.

But Bouwer said it was the last time he would just believe what someone told him.

"The "bliksem" told me he had been sick for the past two weeks and that he didn't think he would be able to swim very fast.

"And then I had to discover in the pool that he had been lying to me all the time. He was healthy and just as hungry to win as I was."

Johnson won two silver medals at the previous Games in Athens.

Her life changed drastically in 1998 when she was involved in a serious car accident that left her partially paralysed. She gets around in a wheelchair.

When she came to in hospital, just about the first thing she saw was a photograph of her favourite horse.

The photo was her coach and team manager Katrina Puttick's idea.

"Katrina knew that if I could see my horse it would spur me on to fight back and not allow the accident to get the better of me.

"I promised myself in hospital that I would ride again."

She is also due to compete in the free rider section and cannot wait.

"It is my and Benedict's favourite event. You'll see how we'll dance then."

Answering machine mesages

Here’s more (much more) answering machine messages that you might like to try.

Well I finally got an answering machine. Now how does this thing work? Hmmm. Press record button, I did that, and the light should be on. I wonder why it’s not working right.
Hmmmm, I wonder what this button does…

(Owner is a hard-to-reach person:) Yes, I finally got an answering machine. (To Handel’s Messiah:) Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! All-e-lu-ia! Please leave a message at the tone.

What you are about to hear is not a beep. It is a digitally manipulated fart.

Prepare for alpha test of Beep Software revision 1.05. Counting down to test: 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…

Don’t you do it! Don’t you dare! I don’t want to hear it! Don’t you beep! If you beep, I’ll… don’t even think about it!… Don’t…!

No! NO! Not THAT! Anything but that! Not the beep! No! Please! Not the beep! Anything but the beep! AAAAIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE!

(Computer style monotone:) Hello, I am the XS486 Mark Five answering machine. I am equipped with the new Pentium processor to assure that nothing can go wrong… Gowrong… Grong..
Grong gronggronggrongBEEP

Hello. I’m David’s answering machine. What are you?

Hi, this is John’s answering machine. He’s not here, but I’m open to suggestions.

Hello. This is Ron’s answering machine, Marvin, and I’m SO depressed. I have 50,000 times the memory capacity of my owner, but all I get to do is answer the phone. Life. Don’t talk to
me about life. Just leave your name and number after the beep. Here comes the beep, God how I hate that beep, it’s so cheery sounding.

Voice 1: Answer the phone, please, Hal.
Voice 2: I’m sorry, Dave, I can’t do that.

Hello. You are talking to a machine. I am capable of receiving messages. My owners do not need siding, windows, or a hot tub, and their carpets are clean. They give to charity through the
office and don’t need their picture taken. If you’re still with me, leave your name and number and they will get back to you.

(Two Computer generated voices:)
1: Hello, there are no real people here to answer the phone right now.
2: Yeah, nobody but us machines!
1: Right, just us machines, but don’t hang up! If you like, you can leave your name and telephone number…
2: …and a message! You forgot about the message!
1: Right. Leave your name, telephone number, and a brief message after you hear the beep, and we will keep track of this stuff until the real people get back.
1: I didn’t expect an answering machine.
2: Nobody expects an answering machine.
1: Our chief use is to get your name. And your phone number.
2: Our two chief uses are to get your name and your phone number.
1: And message. Damn.
2: Our three uses are to get your name, phone number, and message.
1: And time you called.
2: Oh, damn, we’ll have to start over.
1: No time for that, so just wait for the beep.

(Rod Serling imitation:) You’re dazed, bewildered, trapped in a world without time, where sound collides with color and shadows explode. You see a signpost up ahead — this is no ordinary
telephone answering device… You have reached, “The Twilight Phone”.

— authority figures —

Thank you for calling Soviet Embassy. No KG… Er, no diplomats are able to answer phone, so at sound of capitalist tone, leave name, telephone number, and short description of secrets you wish to sell.

The President is not in his office at this time. Please leave your name, phone number, the name of the country you wish to invade, and the secret password.

(Militaristic mechanical voice:)
FOXTROT-LIMA-ALPHA-SIERRA-HOTEL. KEY-DESTRUCT-SEQUENCE-NOW.
THIS-TERMINAL-ALSO-ACCEPTS-VOICE-MESSAGES.

You just dialed into the North American Air Defense Contract Center. Stand by at the tone to give coordinates and destination of incoming bogey. TNR Surveillance will scramble. If you do not respond, this unit will assume incoming….

Hello, this is Death. I am not in right now, but if you leave your name and number, I’ll be right with you.

— odd organizations —

This is a test. This is a test of the Answering Machine Broadcast System. This is only a test.
— mainly musical theme —

(To the tune of “Ride of the Valkyries”:)
Leave a message… Leave a message…

(Pink Floyd’s “Nobody Home”:) You have reached 587-8783.
Please leave a message. (”Ohhhhhhhhh, babe… When I pick up the phone… There’s still… Nobody home.”)

(Pink Floyd:)
Welcome my friends, welcome… to… the machine…
(Voice:) Please leave your name, phone number and message.
Thank you.

(”Camptown Races”:)
I can’t come to the telephone; doo-dah, doo-dah.
Leave your message when you hear the tone; oh, de doo-dah day.
Might be gone all night… Might be gone all day…
So leave a message when you hear the tone.
I’ll call you back someday…

(”Muppet Show” theme:)
It’s time to leave a message
After you hear the tone,
It’s time to leave a message
‘Cause we’re not at home tonight…
It’s time to leave a message
On Kate and Shannon’s phone,
It’s time to leave a message
‘Cause we’re not at home tonight.
Just leave your name and number,
Such simple things to do,
And then when we get home we will
Get right back to you.
It’s time to leave a message
After you hear the tone.
It’s time to leave a message
‘Cause we’re not at home tonight.
Gone to get a bite,
Stayin’ out all night,
Yes we have a life!
Leave a message, we’re not home toniiiiight…

— family fun —

This is Fred. We are not… Excuse me a moment, please. Put your sister down. PUT YOUR SISTER DOWN! (Sound of window breaking.) Great! What a mess. I’ll have to get back to you later.

(Loud sounds of a massive battle; calm voice:) Hello! Due to the breakdown in the 452nd truce, the inhabitants of village 286-3589 are cowering in their bomb shelters. However, if you
leave your name, number, and a message, any survivors will get back to you when the 453rd truce begins.

My wife and I can’t come to the phone right now, but if you’ll leave your name and number, we’ll get back to you as soon as we’re finished.

— can’t answer right now because… —

Hello, there is no one home to answer the phone. This doesn’t mean we don’t want to talk with you. It simply means there is no one home to talk with you. Some people get the incorrect
message that there actually is someone home but they just don’t want to answer the phone. This is not true.

(Sound of scrap metal falling down a staircase continues through message.) Hello, we are having some technical problems right now, so we can’t take your call. Please leave us a message.

(Automatic gunfire, explosions, rockets, jets; agitated voice:)
I’m pinned down and can’t come to the phone right now, and Bob’s handling supporting fire! Leave your name and number, and a message! We’ll get back to you as soon… FIRE IN THE HOLE!
(BOOM!) We’ll get back to you as soon as the air cover napalms the place!

Hi! I can’t answer the phone right now. Bob, that’s my pet parakeet, just swallowed a cherry bomb. It wasn’t lit, but I’ve got to get him to the bathroom. Uh-oh! (Sound of a paper bag
exploding.)

Hi. This is John. If you are the phone company, I already sent the money. If you are my parents, please send money. If you are my financial aid institution, you didn’t lend me enough money. If you are my friends, you owe me money. If you are a female, don’t worry, I have plenty of money.

(Narrator’s voice:) There Dale sits, reading a magazine.
Suddenly the telephone rings! The bathroom explodes into a veritable maelstrom of toilet paper, with Dale in the middle of it, his arms windmilling at incredible speeds! Will he make it in time? Alas no, his valiant effort is in vain. The bell hath sounded. Thou must leave a message.

Hi. I’m probably home, I’m just avoiding someone I don’t like.
Leave me a message, and if I don’t call back, it’s you.
(or)
Hi there. This is Joe speaking. I’m home right now, and in a moment, I’ll have a decision to make. Leave your name and number and I’ll be thinking about it…
(or)
Bob here. I’m home right now, I’m just screening my calls. So start talking and if you’re someone I want to speak with I’ll pick up the phone. Otherwise, well, what can I say?

— you’re in big trouble —

(Sinister organ music:) Hello, you have reached the Brown residence. You now have two choices. Number one, you may leave a message. (Angelic “Hallelujah!”) Or number two, suffer eternal damnation. (Horrid death scream.) You decide.

The machine answering this message is connected to a 5000 volt power supply, and a relay which is wired to this small kitten. (Sound of a kitten meowing.) If you hang up before you leave a message, it will complete the circuit and fry the kitty. The choice is YOURS!

Leave a message or I’ll send 30,000 volts through your phone.
I am an electrical engineer. I can do that.

You have reached the CPX-2000 Voice Blackmail System. Your voice patterns are now being digitally encoded and stored for later use. Once this is done, our computers will be able to use the sound of YOUR voice for literally thousands of illegal and immoral purposes. There is no charge for this initial consultation. However our staff of professional extortionists will contact you in the near future to further explain the benefits of our service, and to arrange for your schedule of payment. Remember to speak clearly at the sound of the tone. Thank you.

— befuddle the caller —

(A busy signal.)

(Recorded directly from AT&T:) We’re sorry, but the number you dialed is disconnected or no longer in service.

The number you have reached, 226-0477, has been changed. The new number is 226-0477. (Yes, same number.) Please check your number and dial again.

Afrikaners attempt underwater Bible-reading

The South African Bible Society

August 30 2008 at 01:51PM

About 35 divers continued on Saturday, with their efforts to complete 64 hours of reading the Afrikaans translation of the Bible under water, SABC reported.

The Handwritten Bible and Underwater Bible Reading Marathons were some of the activities lined up by the Bible Society of South Africa to mark the 75th anniversary of the Afrikaans Bible in Bloemfontein.

The readathon started on Wednesday at the Bible House in Bloemfontein, in an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of world records.

One of the divers, Eckhard Hesse said they have already set a record, as it is the first time that a bible is read under water.

He said it was also the first time that an Afrikaans bible is being read under water and monitored on a speaker system.

A previous attempt in 2002 failed due to technical reasons. The under water reading of the Bible was one of the activities taking place to mark the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Afrikaans translation of the Bible.

A church service would be held on Sunday to close the celebration activities.

The first Afrikaans Bible was launched in 1933 in Bloemfontein.

According to Bible Society of South Africa, the anniversary was regarded as a great celebration for Afrikaans speaking people. - Sapa

Court orders church to apologise

Church to apologise to homosexual music teacher

NG Kerk ordered to apologise to homosexual teacher whom the court ruled was dismissed unfairly

August 28, 2008, 12:30

The Pretoria High Court has ordered the Nederduitse Gereformeerde Kerk in Moreleta Park to apologise to a homosexual music teacher.

Johan Strydom, 31, a teacher at the church's Art Academy took the church to court saying his dismissal was based on his sexual orientation. The court ruled that the church had unfairly discriminated against Strydom on the grounds of his sexual orientation.

The court has also ordered the church to pay more than R86 000 for the impairment of Strydom's dignity, emotional and psychological suffering and loss of earnings. Strydom's lawyer, James Spies, says the case has created a legal precedent in which religious freedom will not infringe on an individual's rights.

The church's Reverend Dirkie van der Spuy says although he's disappointed with the judgment, the church has nothing against homosexual members.

This is bullshit. That little gay wanker can go and fuck a dead tree. Really, you want to work for a church, you can't walk in there swearing, smoking and taking a sip from a bottle, and them claim prejudice when they object.
Sounds like entrapment to me, since i am 100% certain he didn't tell them he way gay in the interview. Ditto for other sins. If i walk in and start flirting with the ladies in an improper way, or any other improper, yet legal way, the church would be fault if they did NOT take corrective measures.
Taking it to the logical extreme, it would become impossible to fire anyone, which i guess is where we're going.
I'm not homophobic or anything, and i am REALLY not fond of the NG kerk, but this does irk me. A church has "other" laws by which they abide, and by associating with the church, one must accept those other rules.
The state over ruling a moral decision, and then adding damages, not kosher.

Human Rights Defender - Hu Shigen

Associated Press reported the release of a Chinese democracy activist, Hu Shigen, now aged, 53, who has served 16 years in prison for “carrying out counterrevolutionary propaganda and incitement” and “organizing a counterrevolutionary group”.

A lecturer of the Beijing Language and Culture Institute, Shigen formed the China Freedom and Democracy Party with Wang Guoqi and others in 1991. He was also part of the Chinese Progressive Alliance formed by Kang Yuchun and one of the co-founders of the China Free Trade Union Preparatory Committee.

He was detained on May 27, 1992, arrested on September of that year and subsequently sentenced to 20 years in prison and five years deprivation of political rights for his human rights work which demanded accountability for the Chinese government’s violent suppression of the June 1989 Democracy Movement. The Democracy and Freedom Party was also seen as a threat to the Communist Party which included up to 100 members of the Communist Party.

During his imprisonment at the Beijing Number 2 Prison, Shigen was said to been tortured and harshly treated for refusing to confess remorse. According to China Forum, he is suffering from ‘intestinal and heart ailments, malnutrition and chronic migraines, and requires a hearing aid… More recently, Hu has suffered the dislocation of several vertebrae, and friends worry that he will become paralyzed if his condition is not treated…

According to Epoch Times, fellow activists were prevented from meeting the dissident upon his release. Shigen is also banned from interviews as he is still deprived of his political rights. He is reported to be planning a trip home in Jiangxi to pay his late mother respect as he was imprisoned while she passed away in 1999.

Cluster maps

i don't know how many people noticed, but i added on of them. Very zooty. Curiosity is a bastard, we all know that. And being online ... well where the hell are my readers?

i imagine most are in SA, something the map confirms, apparently equally split between Cape Town and Jo'burg. But daily watching people pop in form New Zealand, the US, Earope, India and so on. Literally from everywhere.

Now, you can never have an answer that does not prompt more questions (IMHO).
Why you here? Do you like it? Why? Where else to you read? etcetera ... etcetera ... etcetera ... (i've always loved the WHOLE etcetera ... no idea why).

maybe it has meaning, maybe not ..... ok probably not. But it's a very odd thought that my rants and silly ideas from SA are being read by people literally on the other side of the globe. I hope that something of some sort does exist which joins us in some way, more from an ideas perspective .... i guess that's the idealist in me .... universal brotherhood and such.

Well, drop a comment ... maybe i delete it, lol, or maybe i just reply.

Scam unearthed at testing station
Graeme Hosken
August 22 2008 at 09:46AM

A daring fraud syndicate specialising in the sale of fake driver's licences has been unearthed by police at the Waltloo vehicle testing station in Tshwane.

The gang, which operated from a car "registered" in the name of a police officer, is believed to have been operating in Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo for several years, targeting unsuspecting and desperate would-be motorists.

The scam was discovered when police from the Pretoria Flying Squad were tipped off about the sale of temporary driver's licences at Waltloo vehicle testing station.

Police swooped on three suspects sitting in a blue Mazda 6 which the suspects were using as their office, and recovered several fake driver's licences and dozens of identity photographs of would-be motorists.

On checking the vehicle's registration, the arresting officers discovered that the car was registered in the name of a man believed to be a senior superintendent at the SAPS National Evaluation office in Pretoria.

Police at the scene said they were investigating the possibility that the car may have been registered in the policeman's name to fool police into thinking that there was nothing suspicious about the car.

"The other possibilities are that the car has either been 'cloned' or else this policeman is actually involved in the syndicate," said a policeman.

Police spokesperson Captain Jan Sepato confirmed the arrests, saying the men, aged between 30 and 36, were caught with numerous false documents and identity photographs. "We believe that the photographs belong to people who have been duped into buying their driver's licences from the syndicate which we suspect is operating in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West province," he said.

Sepato said the men will appear in court next week on charges of fraud.

He said police were investigating the fact that the car is registered in the name of a policeman.

"At this stage we are establishing whether the man is in fact a policeman or whether he has left the service," he said.

Sepato appealed to people applying for the driver's licences to be wary of unscrupulous people operating in the vicinity of vehicle testing stations.

Anyone with information about similar operations at any vehicle testing station can contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111.

Without any inside knowledge or intelligent info, something tells me these are the guys that took my wife for a ride. Gut feeling.

"We believe that the photographs belong to people who have been duped into buying their driver's licences from the syndicate which we suspect is operating in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and North West province,"
Mobile, with inside info, apparently real documents, duping people. Sounds eerily familiar. People are duly warned to look out for unscrupulous people in the vicinity of testing stations .... but these guys know every testing centre in the country. They would certainly not appear unscrupulous on the surface, and does vicinity include operating from WITHIN the license offices?
I would imagine this info would be dragged out into court eventually, they were caught red handed. I'd love to have a look at one of those temp licenses, just a peek and i would know for sure.

But hey, these guys have been stopped, big up to the boys in blue.

Bad vibes

Is it just me or are things really fucked up lately. I blame the moon, for lack of anything else to howl at, perhaps i'm even right ....
For the last week, people have been bitchy, drivers have been absolute and total idiots, violence has been very close to the surface ... you can FEEL it in the air.

As ever, when i feel times like this i slow down and try surf the tides as best i can. However, every single other person close to me decides to go absolutely apeshit ... and frankly i don't have patience for that at the best of times .... times like this i could happily hide under my bed. Um ... under bed doesn't work, i tried it. have to go hide under a bush in the garden, otherwise they find me. No, i'm not joking.

I guess the question is this:
is this subjective?
or is this objective?

If it's subjective, then i feel better already. Just my own mind playing games. If it's not ... then WTF???? Can we have the old normal back please ... oh? really? that's a shame. The old normal got eaten .... that explains it.

If it's objective, then suddenly the school sword killer seems more understandable.
For me ... i want to get drunk .... really horribly dehumanisingly smashed.

The ability to reason is over rated thank you ... i'll settle for: "I'm unable to talk right now ... or think, or walk ... if you wish to leave a message, don't, i won't reply anyway".

Life really is a fuck up .... strange how no-one wants to say that ... ever ... despite overwhelming evidence. Bad you know .... can't have people thinking that.

I went to the doc the other day ... just feeling sick, tired, the usual. He tells me to take a holiday. Admittedly that was my first laugh for a while.

my inner sociopath.

2. I have the power to channel my imagination into ever-
soaring levels of suspicion and paranoia.

3. I assume full responsibility for my actions, except
the ones that are someone else's fault.

4. I no longer need to punish, deceive, or compromise
myself, unless I want to stay employed.

5. In some cultures what I do would be considered normal.

6. Having control over myself is almost as good as having
control over others.

7. My intuition nearly makes up for my lack of self-
judgment.

8. I honor my personality flaws for without them I would
have no personality at all.

9. I am grateful that I am not as judgmental as all those
censorious, self-righteous people around me.

10. I am willing to make the mistakes if someone else is
willing to learn from them.

Sympathy

Sympathy just doesn’t mean
That much to me
Compassion’s not
The fashion in my mind
And if you’re looking for
A shoulder to cry on
Don’t turn your head my way
’cause I’d rather have
My music any day

You and I are
Masters of our destiny
We look for consolation all the time
Until we find out things are not
What they were meant to be, oh no
And if it doesn’t suit our mood
We’ll call it crime

Dedication’s not an obligation
Or a figment of
Someone’s imagination
It’s the only way they say
To live from day to day
To make each passing way
A small sensation

Dreams are the possession of
The simple man
Reality the fantasy of youth
But living is a problem that
Is common to us all
With love the only
Common road to truth

Thank you to Uriah Heep

Its the last verse that's been haunting me for awhile.
peace and love

Beijing 1989

We were watching TV
In Tiananmen Square
Lost my baby there
My yellow rose
In her bloodstained clothes
She was a short order pastry chef
In a Dim Sum dive on the Yangtze tideway
She had a shiny hair
She was a daughter of an engineer
Won't you shed a tear
For my yellow rose
My yellow rose
In her bloodstained clothes
She had a perfect breasts
She had high hopes
She had almond eyes
She had yellow thighs
She was a student of philosophy
Won't you grieve with me
For my yellow rose
Shed a tear
For her bloodstained clothes
She had shiny hair
She had perfect breasts
She had almond eyes
She had yellow thighs
She was a daughter af an engineer
So get out your pistols
Get out your stones
Get out your knives
Cut them to the bone
They are the lackeys of the grocer's machine
They built the dark satanic mills
That manufacture hell on earth
They bought the front row seats on Calvary
They are irrelevant to me
And I grieve for my sister
People of China
Do not forget do not forget
The children who died for you
Long live the Republic
Did we do anything after this
I've feeling we did
We were watching TV
Watching TV
We were watching TV
Watching TV
She wore a white bandanna that said
Freedom now
She thought the Great Wall of China
Would come tumbling down
She was a student
Her father was an engineer
Won't you shed a tear
For my yellow rose
My yellow rose
In her bloodstained clothes
Her grandpa fought old Chiang Kai-shek
That no-good low-down dirty rat
Who used to order his troops
To fire on women and children
Imagine that imagine that
And in the spring of'48
Mao Tse-tung got quite irate
And he kicked that old dictator Chiang
Out of the state of China
Chiang Kai-shek came down in Formosa
And they armed the island of Quemoy
And the shells were flying across the China Sea
And they turned Formosa into a shoe factory
Called Taiwan
And she is different from Cro-Magnon man
She's different from Anne Boleyn
She is different from the Rosenbergs
And from the unknown Jew
She is different from the unknown Nicaraguan
Half superstar half victim
She's a victor star conceptually new
And she is different from the Dodo
And from the Kankabono
She is different from the Aztec
And from the Cherokee
She's everybody's sister
She's a symbolic of our failure
She's the one in fifty million
Who can help us to be free
Because she died on TV
And I grieve for my sister

The Expedition

"Phoenicia" will attempt to re-create the Phoenicians' epic voyage around the continent of Africa in a traditionally built replica Phoenician / Mediterranean vessel.

The Phoenician Ship Expedition will depart from Arwad, Syria in August 2008, sail through the Suez Canal, around the Horn of Africa and down the east coast. Negotiating the dangers of the Cape of Good Hope will be a critical point in the expedition. The voyage will continue up the west coast of Africa, through the Straights of Gibraltar and across the Mediterranean to return to Syria. The circumnavigation will be followed by another voyage to bring the ship to the United Kingdom in Summer 2009; in all 17,000 miles and 10 months at sea.

The Phoenician Ship Expedition is being led by Philip Beale, whose most recent venture was to lead the 2003-04 Borobudur Ship Expedition. This involved building a replica 8th century Indonesian trading vessel which Philip and his multi-national crew sailed from Indonesia to West Africa.

A team of specialists have been formed to manage the planning, undertaking and post expedition arrangements of the Phoenician Ship Expedition.

There are still legs available to this 600 BC sailing expedition! The search is on for keen sailors and adventurers to take part in this ambitious project which aims to recreate the Phoenicians circumnavigation of Africa, believed to have been achieved over 2,000 years ago.

Television

Ok, i hate it. Not so much IT as what it's used for. And how it's used.
Dumping the tv was probably the smartest thing i ever did for my family. My thinking is pretty much as follows:
1) A tv has this magical ability to be left on, even when crap is showing
2) TV noise is the most vile hateful and disturbing of all noise (especially at dinnertime, i cannot eat with soap opera's hyper tension screeching)
3) 99% of airtime is rubbish, or at least irrelevant to me, the 1% i really can do without
4) News sports and actualities are all LATEST NEWS driven, appealing to MAJORITIES of viewers, and really are bland regurgitations of what some people thought important that day (also the SABC, the state broadcaster, is so politically controlled, you cannot accept any news at face value (see former news head, Snuki Zikalala for a perfect representation of a state disinformation agent)
5) Here in SA there is a HUGE campaign to make people who have tv sets pay an annual license, (it's the right thing to do), rich or poor, you will face jail time if you don't pay, but at the same time you cannot EVER get off their list of payees (ask anyone who has tried, even dead people are taken to court and charged interest)

Anyways ... you get where i'm coming from.
So ... sa is now going across to DIGITAL TV ... woohoo ...and bleh.

"Johannesburg - Strict security features will be installed in set-top boxes that will enable South Africans to switch from analogue to digital broadcasting, Communications Minister Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri said in Johannesburg on Monday. "

"Conditional access systems allow whoever controls the system to block the signal getting through and could be used to enforce TV license payments by the SABC, although this was denied by the SABC at the time. "

"Cape Town - Sentech intends to launch at least one high-definition television (HDTV) satellite channel in time for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, Communications Minister Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri said on Thursday."

And my favourite:
"Pretoria - Government is to provide R2.45bn to South Africa's "poorest TV-owning households" to help them buy the set-top signal boxes they will need once the switch from analogue to digital broadcasting is completed in 2011."

Fuck housing, fuck hospitals .... OUR PEOPLE NEED ...TV.

These are the spoils of the revolution.

"And when they found our shadows
Grouped 'round the TV sets
They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data in their lists
And then the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged the only explanation left
This species has amused itself to death"

Thank you to Roger Waters

Dust in the Wind

I close my eyes
only for a moment
and the moment's gone
all my dreams
pass before my eyes a curiosity
dust in the wind
all we are is dust in the wind

Same old song
just a drop of water
in the endless sea
all we do
crumbles to the ground
though we refuse to see
dust in the wind
all we are is dust in the wind

Now, don't hang on
nothing last forever
but the earth and sky
it slips away

And all your money
won't another minute buy

Dust in the wind
all we are is dust in the wind
dust in the wind
everything is dust in the wind

What to do when stopped by cops...
IOL
August 05 2008 at 09:14AM

By Thandi Skade

What can motorists do when they are pulled over? Do they have any rights?

Early on July 27, a 21-year-old woman travelling alone in her car was stopped and pulled over by two uniformed Metro Police officers.

They approached her from a marked Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) bakkie. One officer asked to see her driving licence and if she had been drinking. She replied that she had drunk one glass of wine.

"He said I may be over the limit. He asked me to do a breathalyser (test) and (then) changed his mind, saying: 'I don't think a girl like you wants to go to jail.'

"I asked him to do the breathalyser (test) because he wanted to take me to jail, but he refused and he said if he did the breathalyser (test), I would probably be over the limit," she said.

In the meantime, the second officer was apparently pacing between the two cars.

The first officer informed her they were going to take her to Linden police station, where she could apply for bail of R1 500.

"I never did a breathalyser (test), so I wasn't sure why I had to go to jail. He asked me what we could do about this."

She said the officer then got into her car with her, and the other officer followed them in the bakkie.

On the way to the police station, the officer allegedly repeatedly tried to solicit a bribe, asking: "What can we do about this?"

"He didn't mention money specifically, but said he wanted something. He told me to stop and park on Frederick Drive, Northcliff, and went out to his friend. He came back and told me his friend needed something."

The officer finally returned her licence and she drove off.

Her experience prompted The Star to look at motorists' rights in such a situation. Alarmingly, they don't have any.

According to JMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, motorists have to obey any orders or instructions from a uniformed officer.

"A motorist is required to comply with the officer until the officer has completed his or her inspection, issued the motorist a ticket or executed an arrest," he said.

It is only once a motorist has been arrested and booked at a police station that they may exercise their right to pay bail, be released from custody and appear in court.

Until then, Minnaar said, a motorist had no choice but to do what they're told.

Commenting on the woman's experience, Minnaar said the officer was within his rights to arrest the woman on suspicion of drunken driving, even though he allegedly refused to do the breathalyser test.

He admitted that it was bizarre that the officer refused to do the test, because it could have been used as evidence to support his suspicion.

"It's odd, but he has the authority to arrest her on suspicion alone," he said.

He advised motorists who suspected an officer of trying to solicit a bribe to make a note of the person's identity and report the officer to the JMPD's Internal Affairs Investigation Unit.

"If an officer is talking in the way of soliciting a bribe, take down some form of identity so that there can be an investigation into the matter.

"Try to take down the officer's number plate, the vehicle number, precinct and name," he said.

Uniformed JMPD officers have the authority to stop any motorist:

# For a routine check;

# For a traffic offence; and

# To check for suspected stolen vehicles or suspicious drivers.

They further have the authority to:

# Thoroughly check the inside and outside of the car;

# Request personal information such as names and addresses from any person in the car, including driver and passengers; and

# Inspect the car and driving licence.

Motorists' rights (which only apply after you have been arrested):

# Pay bail;

# Be released; and

# Appear in court.

Tips on how to handle a police officer or metro police officer:

# Stop if you are ordered to do so. Remain calm and be co-operative.

# Take down the police officer's registration number and vehicle number written on the side of the car.

# Call 10111, tell the operator that you have been stopped by the police and you would like them to keep talking to you until you have identified the officers.

Give the operator the officer's name, rank and force number, but make sure the police can hear you as that will reduce the chances of them trying to bribe or harass you.
__________________________________________________ ____________

Ok, so they can stop you for any reason, inspect any aspect of the vehicle, including passengers and inside any bags you may have, and arrest you for no valid reason whatever, not even needing to state a reason. They could arrest you on suspicion of speeding. But now, this woman was never arrested. There were no charges laid, in fact, she was kidnapped and essentially held to ransom, BY THE POLICE.

If they did make an arrest, she would then be jailed overnight, for not having done anything wrong.

Motorists are being advised to phone the police when they are stopped by the police.
How seriously messed up is that?

I repeat, i refuse to submit, i will not wear their plates, i will not bow to their claimed authority, and i will not stop when directed to do so.

Alexander Solzhenitsyn R.I.P.

Cold War icon dies
04/08/2008 11:41 - (SA)

Moscow - Russian writer and dissident Alexander Solzhenitsyn, who shone a light on the inhuman world of the Soviet gulags, died late on Sunday, the Itar-Tass news agency said, citing his son Stepan. He was 89.

The Nobel laureate died of heart failure at his Moscow home at 19:45 GMT, the writer's son said, according to the agency.

Solzhenitsyn won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1970 after writing harrowing works about the Soviet Union's system of labour camps, where he spent eight years from 1945.

He wrote about life in the gulag with disturbing detail in his most celebrated works: One Day In The Life of Ivan Denisovich, The First Circle and The Gulag Archipelago.

As a result, he was stripped of his citizenship and expelled from the Soviet Union in 1974, thereby becoming a Cold War icon.

He lived in Germany, Switzerland and the United States before returning home to Russia in 1994, following the collapse of the Soviet Union.

After his return, Solzhenitsyn was critical of both the West and of Russia's post-Soviet evolution, calling for a return to traditional moral values.

In June last year, then Russian president Vladimir Putin awarded Solzhenitsyn with the State Prize, Russia's highest honour, praising his devotion to the "fatherland" in a lavish ceremony at the Kremlin.

Solzhenitsyn's wife Natalya accepted the award on behalf of her husband, who was unable to attend the ceremony.

Speaking via a video message, Solzhenitsyn said he was "flattered by the attention to my work brought by this Russian State Prize".

"Until the end of my life I can hope that the historical material... collected by me and presented to my readers, enters the consciousness and memory of my fellow countrymen," he said.

"Our bitter national experience can yet help us in a possible repeat of unstable social conditions, it will warn us and ward us from destructive break-downs."

A complete edition of Solzhenitsyn's works, including unpublished writings, began to be published in 2006, with the last volume due out in 2010. His wife said at the time she did not expect her husband to live to see the last edition.

Russia's President Dmitry Medvedev has sent the family his condolences.

Doro Pesch - love me in black

Didn't they tell You the way that it's gonna be
You asked god for a woman and ended up with me
Maybe I'll love you maybe I'll pull you apart
We live in darkness l've pulled you into my friend
There's no escaping this hell that I've put you in
You must forgive me but loving me is a sin

Are you ready for me
Do you love me in black
I'll will push you away
Then make you come back
I can make you feel love
I can be so detached
Do you really want me
Do you love me in black

When I first met you I thought there was a mistake
How could you want me, you made such easy prey
Didn't they teach you loving is nothing but pain
What do you see when you look in my eyes
A sea of blue, a place where your heart could lie
Where it could drown, where it will never survive

Are you ready for me
Do you love me in black
I'll will push you away
Then make you come back
I can make you feel love
I can be so detached
Do you really want me
Do you love me in black

I keep reliwng the moment we said goodbye
You didn't kiss me, you didn't even try
You said l made me feel like you were barely alive
In another lifetime maybe another place
Maybe i'll find you. l could be tempted by fate
And try to reach with too little kindness too late

Are you ready for me
Do you love me in black
I'll will push you away
Then make you come back
I can make you feel love
I can be so detached
Do you really want me
Do you love me in black

No safety in numbers

... Maggie Sotyu, head of parliament’s safety and security committee, ruled tens of thousands of signatures to a “Save the Scorpions” submission irrelevant. She said she had gone door-to-door in her constituency and found that the majority of ANC voters didn’t even know what the Scorpions were. “They think it is some fruit somewhere,” she said.

Sunday Times

Ok, so the scorpions are like the local FBI, national police. Can you imagine people saying "oh, i thought he FBI were some kind of fruit" ?????

Aside from the obvious ... this is political spin at it's worst. Ignorance, stupidity, and malicious intent all rolled into 1.

Added to the ANC something or other threatening the entire south africa, saying that to prosecute zuma would bring dire consequences on the country ... like all the "supporters" (ie ex soldiers) waiting in the wings.

Civil war people ..... these fucking cunts are threatening us with zimbabwe, IF WE TAKE THEIR FRIEND TO COURT. These retarded shit for brains want to usurp the entire justice system, because their friend is above the law. None of them argue that the allegations are false, they're just saying it doesn't matter.

I updated my CV .... anyone want a strong, healthy young family ... OUTSIDE of SA?
It's not getting better.

Dutch traffic solution

Dope must be doing wonders to the Dutch government

Dutch motorcycle association, MAG , have been active. A new toll system for the motorways in The Netherlands will be put in place by 2012. Today, the freeways are exactly that, free. There's currently a road tax that each vehicle must pay per year.

In order to lessen the very high traffic on Dutch roads, the toll system will "force" users that would not normally use a car on a daily basis, to use the public transport. So far, it looks good, but things get better.

The Dutch government, in a moment of great lucidity, have decided that motorcycles are a solution to traffic problems, and therefore have decided that motorcycles will not need to pay toll. That's right, motorcycles can ride the "rijksweg" for free, vrij, noppes, nada, nientacosa, gratuit, مجاني , освобождавам, 自由的, slobodno, volný, fri, vapaa, frei, ελεύθερος, स्वतंत्र, libero, бесплатно ....

Way to go!

It's a very encouraging sign, when a government decides that motorcycles aren't a problem, but are actually a solution. Now, if the other countries could please pay attention.

Cult - Edie

Always said you were a youthquaker, Edie
A stormy little world shaker
Oh, Warhol's darling queen, Edie
An angel with a broken wing
The dogs lay at your feet, Edie
Oh, we caressed your cheek
Ooh, stars wrapped in your hair
Ooh, life without a care
But your not there
Oh, caught up in an endless scene, Edie
Yeah, paradise, a shattered dream
Oh, wired on the pills you took, Edie
Your innocence dripped blood, sweet child
The dogs lay at your feet, Edie
Oh, we caressed your cheek
Ooh, stars wrapped in your hair
Ooh, life without a care
Ciao baby
Shake it, boy
Oh, sweet little sugar talker
Paradise dream stealer
Oh, Warhol's little queen, Edie
An angel with a broken wing, oh
The dogs lay at your feet, Edie
Oh, we caressed your cheek, well
Stars wrapped in your hair
Ooh, life without a care
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Why did you kiss the world goodbye?
Ciao baby
Don't you know paradise takes time?
Ciao, yeah
Why did you kiss the world goodbye?
Ciao baby
Don't you know paradise takes time?
Ooh, ciao, yeah
Ciao baby, yeah
Ciao baby
Ciao baby, yeah

Riding

I have been commuting for just over a year now on my fazer, every day facing the 30 kilometer ride to work, and home, and everywhere else. What an amazing experience, albeit it at different times scary, beautiful, thrilling, exhilarating, wet, cold, wet and cold, lonely, content and many others besides.
This last year has seen me take my wife and kids for rides, experienced many biker events, my favourite of course being the Toy Run www.toyrun.co.za, an event where bikers across the country collect toys for various orphanages for christmas.
Being part of Think Bike www.thinkbike.co.za and the marshalling team has also been awesome. The team spirit, leadership and comaraderie, as well as the professionalism of those involved, and generosity too, has been an inspiration to myself as a person. I cannot describe 5AM on a cold winter morning, out in the Magaliesberg hills, cyclists gathering to race, and a line of steel horses to look after their non motorised cousins. Wherever i go, and there are marshalls, i know i am amongst truly great people. We do many events freely, knowing that our presence there helps avert tragedy. That is so rewarding in itself, the fun we have seems too good to be true!
One funny aspect of these cycle races is the total difference between cyclists and bikers. Cyclists are such prissy little beings, whereas bikers ... well ... yes.
Riding the same route everyday i s fun o, usually at the same time. I've got to know so many people on the route, hardly a day passes i do not see a friend on the way to work. Mostly only a toot and a wave, but that is so much more than the caged mentality a car provides. This morning, i managed to say hi to a fellow tb marshall, who uses a car to get to work, and had stopped at the same robot as i. Further on, an unknown biker on a honda and i exchanged greetings, and agreed that it was a nice day, and not too cold. Then a young punk on a gs nearly rode into me, he was pushing too hard, and not thinking far enough ahead enough either. His type will fall sooner rather than later. A scooter joined the highway further on, and was also far too confident for his own good. A scooter is very maneuverable, and in traffic can easily keep up with bigger bikes, however there is a limit as to how fast you can go, i don't know how to "calculate" it, but it's there, that barrier beyond which you do not have enough space to stop. The scooter pushed it, and when someone jumped lanes, mr scooter got a big fright. He avoided falling or crashing, but the word contortionist comes to mind when i recall the way that scooter wiggled. I thought he'd fall.
There is no other way to travel really. Being one with your environment, taking each day as new and different, and dangerous, is the right way to start the day. Every single motorbike commuter i know agrees that when you get to work, you are refreshed, awake, and most certainly happy to be alive. It allows your mind the respite it truly needs, from whatever else may plague your thoughts, gives you space for your mind to reach for each horison, and take note of the things between them.

Adam's calender

When historians first stumbled upon these structures they simply assumed that they were cattle kraal left behind by the Bantu people as they moved south and settled the land from around the 13th century. But research work done by people like Cyril Hromnik, Richard Wade, Johan Heine and a handful of others over the past twenty years, into ancient southern African history, has revealed that these stone structures are in fact more than just cattle kraal, but the remains of ancient temples and astronomical observatories of lost ancient civilisations that stretch back for thousands of years.

Cracked heads

Date: Sat Mar 27 15:36:01 2004

Yes, you. You sick fucker. On Wednesday morning I emerged from my
girlfriend's building by U.N. Plaza to find that you had sawed the tops
off both the sparkplugs on my motorcycle. At the time, I had no idea why
anyone would do that. Other than the sparkplugs, the bike was untouched.
Some kind of bizarre vandalism? A fraternity prank gone awry? I had no
idea. All I knew is that I looked like a huge douchebag riding the Muni
to work in a padded motorcycle jacket and helmet. Because the bike was
immobilized I got a $35 street sweeping ticket that night. Thursday I
had it towed to the shop ($45) where they replaced the sparkplugs and
the boots ($50 including labor). They explained to me that "people" - I
use the term loosely here - like you break off the tops of spark plugs
and use the porcelain tubes to smoke crack. As an engineer and former
MacGyver fan, in a way I think this is kind of cool. But then I remember
that I just paid $100 for YOUR crackpipes, and I get angry again.

Crackhead, it was really good to have my bike back though. I rode home
from the shop with a couple of spare sparkplugs and a smile on my face.
I figured the next time I parked at my girlfriend's place overnight I
would have to buy some crackpipes and tape them to my bike as a peace offering. Overall, I wasn't that upset. Despite having to ride the bus
for three days and dropping a hundred bones at the shop, I had gained
some fascinating knowledge, a new set of spark plugs, and a pretty funny
anecdote about how fucked up you are, and how our paths once crossed
briefly in the night.

But you couldn't just let sleeping dogs lie, could you Crackhead? You
couldn't just stay in on Friday, watch Letterman through the window of a
home electronics store and then call it a night. You couldn't rest on
your laurels. Two porcelain sparkplug crackpipes just wasn't enough for
you, was it Crackhead? You just had to come back for more. This morning, a scant fifteen hours after I rode it out of the shop, I found my
motorcycle violated once again. This time you only took the right one -
maybe you were having an off night. At least this time I had a spare
sparkplug and the tools to fix it - or so I thought - having ordered a
73-piece toolset from SEARS.com last week. But no, the sparkplug socket in my new toolset was for American sparkplugs. So I had to go down to the neighborhood Ace hardware. They had an 18mm socket that would fit over my sparkplug, but it was for a 1/2" drive ratchet. My toolkit only has 1/4" and 3/8" ratchets. So I had to buy a 1/2" ratchet along with
the socket. Even though the clerk took pity on me and gave me the senior
citizen discount (I'm 25) it still cost me $22 all told.

Now, you might say that I should have just gotten a 3/8"-to-1/2" drive
adaptor instead of springing for the whole ratchet. And to that I say
"Shut the hell up, Crackhead, I'm not finished. And besides, I was
eventually going to buy a 1/2" ratchet anyway so it's probably not worth
it to take it back now."OK, now I'm rambling. But the point is,
Crackhead, that you have done me wrong. Now, I get that you love crack.
That is totally understandable. I've heard it is really fun, at first,
and quite addictive. What I don't understand is...

YOU ARE A CRACKHEAD. WHY DON'T YOU OWN A CRACKPIPE?!

I am an engineer. Do you ever see me shaking down bums in the Loin for a calculator and sliderule? No, you don't. Because engineering is the main thing I do, I went and bought myself a calculator. The main thing you do is crack. How do you get by without a crackpipe? The other crackheads must clown on you non-stop. I mean, the fucking saw you used to saw off my sparkplugs is probably worth five or ten bucks. Why not sell or trade it for a crackpipe? You really haven't put much thought into this, have you? Please, Crackhead, please don't tell me you sold your crackpipe to buy crack. Even a stupid crackhead such as yourself couldn't possibly be that stupid. I've decided that taping crackpipes to my motorcycle would be tantamount to appeasement.

You have crossed a line, Crackhead - specifically California Street. You
have come onto my own street and you have desecrated that which I hold
dear. You have stolen from me, and you have caused me to spend the last half hour writing this post instead of engineering shit, and it is
conceivable, if not likely, that my boss could find out about this and
fire me. I am hella pissed at you dude.

Here are my options as I see them:

1. Write a note saying that I have coated both of my sparkplugs in rat
poison and tape it to my bike at night. You can thank Tim for that one,
it was his idea.

2. Don't write a note, but just coat both sparkplugs in rat poison. This
is probably closer to a punishment that would fit your despicable crime.
I'm sure this is super illegal and SHIT, but it's not like anyone is
going to miss you, Crackhead. Don't fool yourself.

3. Wait in an alley near my bike armed with my new stainless steel
mirror-finish Ace Professional brand 1/2" drive socket wrench, my 18mm
sparkplug socket, and my searing rage. It's pretty heavy and well
balanced. I am not a large man, but I am angry.

In conclusion, Crackhead, why don't you just do both of us a favor and
buy yourself a crackpipe? It will both enhance your crack smoking
experience and save me a lot of time and felony assault charges. Think
about it.

Sincerely,
Matt

*** If you are not the Crackhead that took my sparkplugs, please disregard this posting ***

i luv humans

The following letter was forwarded by someone who teaches at a small high school in country NSW (Australia). The letter was sent to the principal's office after the school had sponsored a luncheon for the elderly.

This story is a credit to all humankind.

Read it, soak it in, and bask in the warm feeling that it leaves you with.

Dear School,

God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent senior citizen's luncheon. I'm 94 years old and live at the local County Home for the Aged.

My family has long since passed away and I rarely have visitors. As a result, I have very limited contact with the outside world. This makes your gift especially welcome My roommate, Maggie Cook, has had her own radio for as long as I've known her. She listens to it all the time, though usually with an earplug or with the volume so low, I can't hear it. For some reason, she has never wanted to share it.

Last Sunday morning, while listening to her morning gospel programs, she accidentally knocked her radio off its shelf. It smashed into many pieces, and caused her to cry. It was so sad.

Fortunately, I had my new radio. Knowing this, Maggie asked if she could listen to mine.

I told her to fuck off.

Bless you.
Sincerely,
Edna Johnson

Duel On the Highway

Duel On the Highway

An exit ramp bisects a sweeping curve
too many times I’ve seen
cages and rigs roll on through
and I wondered...
would it be that way today?
If so, what would I do?
I see the cage coming down
and as I come around
the end of the curve
I am watching...calculating
preparing for "battle",
which way will I go
if she doesn’t slow
and yield?
I will hold my lane here
not off in that field !
So damn many thoughts
are clicking off
methodically and lightning quick, one by one
I’m tallying statistics and survival scenarios.
I’m staring her down,
she’s talking on her cell phone, listening to her stereo
oblivious of me, like she’s alone and owns this road.
I’m won’t slow down...not this day,
this is my road, this is my "town"...
and I’m staring her down
like a gunfighter’s eyelock before the pistols are drawn,
staring her down....
drilling my presence into her pre-occupied brain...
Will she see me, or will my life
forever change in this instant?
Look, look, look at me dammit!
She finally turns to look my way
as I accelerate by,
checking her in my mirror
I see.. she never stopped
as I blow the smoke from the barrel of my "gun".
Another notch in my belt...
another battle won.
