Dope must be doing wonders to the Dutch government
Dutch motorcycle association, MAG , have been active. A new toll system for the motorways in The Netherlands will be put in place by 2012. Today, the freeways are exactly that, free. There's currently a road tax that each vehicle must pay per year.
In order to lessen the very high traffic on Dutch roads, the toll system will "force" users that would not normally use a car on a daily basis, to use the public transport. So far, it looks good, but things get better.
The Dutch government, in a moment of great lucidity, have decided that motorcycles are a solution to traffic problems, and therefore have decided that motorcycles will not need to pay toll. That's right, motorcycles can ride the "rijksweg" for free, vrij, noppes, nada, nientacosa, gratuit, مجاني , освобождавам, 自由的, slobodno, volný, fri, vapaa, frei, ελεύθερος, स्वतंत्र, libero, бесплатно ....
Way to go!
It's a very encouraging sign, when a government decides that motorcycles aren't a problem, but are actually a solution. Now, if the other countries could please pay attention.

Yup, that's like the Dutch- four steps ahead of everybody else in many ways.
I've started looking around for a bike myself -I haven't ridden in over 13 years, but it's time to get independent again!

It can be a good option, but there a lot of things that could trip you up.
