The cable – one of 250 000 leaked to Whistleblower website Wikileaks but obtained exclusively by Media24 Investigations – also reveals that the US Embassy in Pretoria actively cultivated Shaik as a key source of information on Zuma’s inner circle and the “motivations and strategies of the Zuma camp”.
Dated September 10 2008, two days before corruption charges against Zuma were initially dismissed by Judge Chris Nicholson, the cable was sent to the Secretary of State in Washington DC and copied to US consuls in Durban and Cape Town, the CIA, the US Defence Intelligence Agency and the White House National Security Council.
It is one of a number of classified cables recording meetings between Shaik – who was controversially appointed head of the South African Secret Service (SASS), South Africa’s foreign intelligence wing, in October 2009 - and an unidentified US embassy political officer.
“Shaik complained that all these people know Zuma is innocent and that he does not understand why they have not come to Zuma’s defence before now,” the cable noted.

I don't trust it. Too many dramatic backlit photos of assange on the news and too much crafted info supporting the current agenda, including ooh iran is so evil let's profitable war it.
Above all he's said the official accounting of 9/11 is the correct one. He's a bloody shill. More pretend revolutions for the masses to go with our pretend lives.
Look, it's either random bits of info, or a very carefully crafted info war.
Either way, the status quo needs to be threatened, shaken up etc.
Too much money behind Assange, Soros i believe, but hey, anything brought out from under cover is worth while, if not decisive.
peace
Their MO for times like these seems to be to support anti-government revolutions while making times very hard for the people so they can be controlled. From the looks of the african north coast and the forthcoming food shortages (pretty much a surety now since the major breadbaskets are underwater and the oceans poisoned) their plan has been set in motion. Not to say it's going to work, but they're trying.
Zuma saying he's going to restrict foreign land ownership sent up a red flag for me. That's like industrialist kryptonite and they will most likely attempt to collapse the ANC (faster). Since that announcement they keep finding weapons caches. Al CIA-da in SA? Way I see it the shaiks and the zumas are the branches of this tree, cut off their deformed little heads and an identical one will spawn in its place. And the ones selling the guns for all this fun stay the same people.
Yeah but you know ... was reading a story yesterday, sunday times i think, about one of the victims of a mcbride bomb.
That cunt mcbride is out there having a great fucking time, and his victim is still having endless issues with trying to get his pension.
Yeah they'll be replaced, but hows a bit of old fashioned justice, by your former friends?
That would go a long way round here. You cannot fuck EVERYONE off all the time ... stuff happens to people who do.
Hmm, agreed. You and I are more likely to go down for corruption than they are though.
