It's not often you find a truly beautifully written story, complete with moral and happy ending. But i found one this morning, and couldn't stop reading until i was done. A story which is fairly common in fact, but usually just dismissed in our daily bustle, and the deeper issues glossed over like cheap paint on a picket fence.
A sincere thanks to Running cos i can't fly for reposting from the orgional story to be found on John Robbins Blog.
I'm not going to repost, or even print excerpts, the story must be read and enjoyed as a whole, so when you have your drink of choice, and a comfy chair, and some time for a good story, please go have a look and read and feel the hope that shone through to me.

It's a story about the Soul Cages, isn't it?

Um ... well it's about souls ... and cages ... not sure it's about both tho ... if you know what i mean?
I got it via YOUR sidebar!! ;-)
It's a great story, but it sheds light on a the phenomenon that we are what we appear, which is nonsense of course. The writer discovered that most clearly, his initial impressions were wrong.
I loved your story too by the way, and until i got distracted nearly linked to it. Also powerful, and poignant.
Both make me sad though. Well, that bittersweet sadness that is life.

Yes, but what I got most strongly from the story was the Soul Cage the farmer was in. And the one the writer was in. And the one we're all in, unless we escape.

PS and don't say your sidebar like the story was all my fault, young man.
;)
Ah yes ok, i see what you meant by soul cage.
Absolutely, although while i'm still in the cage, i can see others in their cages, like this farmer, you probably do too. It hurts, although i've never seen it as well presented (deconstructed?) as this simple story.
Hehehe at PS, you wanted to say that first :p
